TFN: How long have you been working with your trainer, Dylan?

CR: 1.5 years

TFN: Why did you start working together?

CR: I decided that I wanted to get into better shape and get stronger as I approached middle age, and I needed help to achieve that.

TFN: How has your physique, strength, and/or mindset changed since you started?

CR: I am significantly stronger since beginning training and in general, I feel much healthier. I have become fairly consistent in working out on a schedule as well.

TFN: How many days a week do you exercise?

CR: 4-5

TFN: Life gets busy and people miss workouts, what's your strategy to stay on track?

CR: Have a set time for working out and make time even if it is not always convenient.

TFN: On a scale of 1 to 10, how hard do you work during your workouts?

CR: 7-8 RPE ('Rate of Perceived Exertion')

TFN: What is your favorite exercise?

CR: Chin ups (because I can do them far better than 20 years ago) and squats.

TFN: How does being strong benefit other aspects of your life?

CR: In general, I can now bend iron rebar with my bare hands, so I have that going for me. Just kidding. I feel healthier in general and feel a strong sense of accomplishment in being able to track my improvement.

TFN: What's your #1 piece of advice for someone seeking to improve fitness?

CR: Keep a schedule and be willing to listen to improve your technique.

Trainer Perspective: Dylan Smith

TFN: Dylan, what is it like working with Chris?

DS: Working with Chris is a blast! It is rare to find someone as self-motivated as Chris. No matter what I throw at him he always gets his work done even with up to 5 days per week of strength training. In person, Chris works very hard and still manages to have me cracking up over conversation between sets. He is truly a pleasure to work with and a model for success for all of our clients. I look forward to coaching Chris for years to come!
